Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka is a British-American sitarist and musician. She was the first and first woman to receive the British House of Commons Shield she's had 9 Grammy Awards nominations and was the first artist of Indian origin to play live in concert and be a presenter for the ceremony. Anoushka Shankar is one of India's most promising stars on the sitar. She is a student and daughter to Ravi Shankar. Her birthplace was London in 1982. In during her early years, she swam between London New Delhi. Her first performance took place on stage in New Delhi when she was thirteen years old. After that, she relocated into Encinitas CA, where she obtained the High School diploma with honors in 1999. Although she is still very young, Anouskha is a star in her performing and recording. Her father was with her in many performances for several years. She released Anourag her first solo album in 1998. The album was released in 2002. her Grammy nominated album Live At Carnegie Hall. Stage performances are a important aspect of her life. She has performed in a variety of famous venues around the globe. Anoushka Shankar's professional life isn't only limited to performing in music. Bapi The love of my life is an illustrated biography that she composed in 2002. The book pays tribute to her father, who passed away in 2002. Ravi Shankar. She also acted on the film "Dance Like a Man" in 2003. Her role was an Bharat natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shankar was born in England and spent a lot of her youth living between London and Delhi after which she moved to California in the state where she attended high school. Anoushka Shankar began her musical studies at the age of nine. Four years later she performed her sitar debut in Delhi during her father's 75th birthday party. Alongside her father, they toured around the globe, Anoushka racked up a wealth of experience performing at Carnegie Hall while still in her teens, performing in Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival and performing together with George Harrison. She was the youngest and sole female to receive the House of Commons Shield awarded by the British Parliament to recognize her musicianship and talent as a preeminent musician of in the Asian Arts.
